Focus on: Joseph Hachem

Joseph Hachem is known as Diamond Joe and he was born in Australia. He is of Lebanese origins and his best performance in professional poker is winning in first place at the WSOP 2005 Main Event. He took home $7.5 million as a result and he became the first poker player from Australia to get this title. The prize of $7.5 million was a record at that time, as far as live tournament prizes go.

In 2006 Joe also managed to win the title at the World Poker Tour, so he took home another $2.2 million. There are only 5 players in the world that managed to win both a WPT championship and a main event at the World Series. Besides Joe, the other players are Scotty Nguyen, Doyle Brunson, Dan Harrington and Carlos Mortensen. Joe has a total of thirteen finishes in the money at the World Series of Poker.

In 2011, the winnings in tournaments went over $11.3 million, which means that he ranks 9th among all players, in earnings from live tournaments.

In order to win the Main Event at the World Series in 2005, Joe had to outlast 5,618 poker players. It cost him and everyone else $10,000 to play, but the $7.5 million prize certainly made it all worth it. He had a very good start from the first day, finishing it with twice as many chips as the average player had. Thanks to this confidence boost, he was able to play better and for the rest of the tournament he stayed mostly in the middle of the pack as far as the chip stack goes. The final table that he eventually won lasted for almost 14 hours.

One year later, he won the title at the World Poker Tour and he took home $2,207,575
