Hotel Ramada Approach GHC For Poker

Hotel Ramada a city based hotel has filed a petition and had submitted in Gujarat high court (HC) to allow them to organize a poker game in their hotel.

According, to the petition, the poker is a skill full game and not a gambling game that is won by luck.

The Gujarat High Court authority has admitted the petition as if now. The hotel has first requested the lower authorities to give them the permission to hold the poker game in their premises, but after getting negative response, the hotel management team reached to the Gujarat High Court. Now, Justice C L Soni has asked to reply from the city police commissioner, state government, municipal commissioner and Anand Nagar police inspector as why they did not take any decision with regards to the concern.

On the other hand, cops of the Anandnagar police station called the management team of hotel and ask them for stopping the game.

Before this, the petition was attended by Justice J B Pardiwala. But, he safely protected himself and did not take the case.  Then the matter came to Justice Soni for hearing.

Meanwhile, when the hotel management team did not get any response from the authority with regards to the petition, then they move ahead and organized the game. But, it was restricted in between by the cops of Anandnagar police station.

Advocate Pandya, who filed the petition of Hotel Ramada, placed judgments made by US government in which it is clearly said that, poker is a skill full game and it cannot be cited as gambling. He placed two judgments for the same and asked for the opinion of experts. The advocate also cited the judgments made by various other courts of India, including the judgment of West Bengal that clearly says that poker is not a gambling game. The win in poker is not dependent on luck entirely. It also requires skills to win the match.
